Have you ever gotten a strange feeling about them that gave you the creeps? In the story below, seven women become victims of one perverted guy that was posing to be a rideshare driver.

In a perfect world, no woman should ever have to worry about being attacked by a man. This world, however, is not perfect. Because of this, it is always wise to be completely aware of your surroundings and who is in your personal proximity. Even when it comes to something as seemingly harmless as a rideshare , it is always best to know who you are dealing with. Sometimes something as simple as a background check, or public record search could make a huge difference.

Seven Women Sexually Assaulted

According to the Los Angeles Times, Forty-four year old Nicholas Morales was arrested in Alhambra, CA after allegedly attacking seven women. The assaults took place over a 15-month span in the Los Angeles area, including Beverly Hills and WestWood Hollywood. Morales posed as a rideshare driver and took advantage of the women.

Authorities believe there are more victims out there that have yet to come forward. No other reports have been made at this time, but the investigation continues. Police from all areas are recommending that anybody who has been assaulted should speak out and bring all sexual predators to justice.

According to Sgt. Steven Carr, a spokesman for the Alhambra Police Department, Morales was arrested in connection with the final attack he reportedly committed on Dec. 30, 2017. The first attack, according to authorities, dates back to October 2016. However, police were on the hunt since last May- maybe even earlier. At that time, authorities released a police sketch of the suspect, along with a statement that included details of one of the assaults that took place in January 2017. The statement read:

“The female victim left a club in the Hollywood area and got into the suspect’s vehicle, a late-model four-door car, believing it was the ridesharing car she had ordered. The suspect drove the victim to a secluded location, where he sexually assaulted her.”

Safety First - Steps to Checking Your Rideshare Driver’s Background

L.A. County Sheriff’s deputy Wallesca Bracks wants to remind people to make sure you get in the right car when using any type of rideshare application.

What all of the women had in common is that they assumed that the driver was legitimate. Top officials from big rideshare companies advise to always check the details of the driver and make sure the license plates and the description of the vehicle match. They also say that in every driver profile there is a photo of the driver. Make sure to take a close look and be positive that the photo matches the driver. These tasks may take a little more time and effort to do, but it is always a good idea to make sure that you are getting into a vehicle with the correct person.

Most of the rideshare companies have an app that provides a customer with photos, plate numbers, the name of the driver and other pertinent information that is available in order to ensure safety. By carefully inspecting all of the information you can verify that the person you are getting into the vehicle with is who they say they are.

Once you have the name of your driver it is very easy to take this a step further when you have a Public Records Search Membership with SpyFly. Within minutes of receiving your driver’s name, you can perform a complete background check before they even arrive.

Facing Serious Criminal Charges

Morales - a married man of Santa Clarita, CA- faces twenty-seven counts of sexual assault and fifteen years to life if convicted. Twenty-seven counts. That is a lot of felonies.

Whatever kind of insanity drove this man to go out and allegedly commit these crimes is unfathomable. The details of his wife and family are unknown at this time, but they are probably devastated. It is good that he is going to pay for these offenses if found guilty, but it will not undo the damage that he allegedly caused to these seven women. At least he will not be able to hurt any more innocent people for quite some time.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first incident of this nature. While there is a great relief when alleged perpetrators are caught, police want to warn people to stay alert. There have been multiple instances of situations just like this story.

There is a real live victim that gets hurt with every occurrence of this nature. The people who are victimized are wives, husbands, friends, mothers and so on. In order to prevent this kind of crime, it is very important to pay attention to your surroundings.

If at all possible do a background check or a public record search on anybody that you would get into a vehicle with. SpyFly makes it easy and convenient to do an instant check on anybody.
